Hello everyone,
I would like to introduce myself! My name is Andrea Claes and I was recently elected President of SPCA San Pat County. The President’s position had been open since we lost our beloved President and Director, Dona Farrar, on April 23, 2018. She did so much over the past 10 years to get both the organization and the crown jewel, the Animal Adoption Center, up and running. The new Director appointed by the Board is Patty Heard. She and I will do our best to fill Dona’s shoes. The current Board of Directors includes myself as President; Neal Floerke, Vice President; Pat Danczek, Treasurer; Jennifer Heard, Secretary and Pat Billman, Member-at-Large.
The Animal Adoption Center is a busy place these days with facility expansion and organizational growth to meet the community’s needs. We are erecting a new building that will handle cat and dog intake separate from the Adoption Center. The outer shell is complete and the interior floorplan is being constructed. We have hired a Veterinary Technician to assist with health screenings, checkups, medications and a multitude of other tasks required to keep the adoptable animals healthy and happy. A large play area has been enclosed so the dogs can enjoy some outdoor exercise time.
Casino Night, our largest fundraiser of the year, will be held at the Aransas Pass Civic Center on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Last year the event was canceled in the aftermath of hurricane Harvey. There is ample opportunity to join a planning committee or a fundraising activity. Please come by and sit-in on our monthly meeting, the first Thursday of every month at 6pm, at the Animal Adoption Center. It is casual, comfortable and open to all.
With expansion and growth, we are needing additional volunteers. There are many ways to contribute from watering the flowerbeds, to walking a dog, to grooming a cat. If you have just a few hours once a week that you can commit to helping us out, we would love to have you join us. The dogs and cats rely on us to care for them every morning and every evening, 365 days a year.
