about us

who we are

We are a group of thirty plus members working to run and maintain our new animal shelter, the Sandra Sue Benson Animal Adoption Center. Eleven years ago we became a 501(c)3 non–profit organization and have worked hard raising the money for this shelter. On August 27, 2016 we opened our new shelter.

Mission Statement

Our Goals and Objectives

The long–term goal of SPCA San Pat County is to run and maintain our animal shelter in order to serve the needs of San Patricio County. It will serve the community by providing a facility where people can go to adopt a homeless pet and where animals can be housed in a humane manner while awaiting a loving home. We will also be working hard to educate the public about the need to spay or neuter their pets. Our objectives are summarized below:

  • Provide humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection in the area served by the corporation
  • Discourage cruelty to animals of all types
  • Influence public opinion with respect to care, treatment and welfare
  • Promote spay/neuter programs as a method of animal population control
  • Seek suitable homes for animals without owners
  • In its care and disposition of animals, the SPCA San Pat County shall maintain minimum, or exceed, standards prescribed by the State of Texas.
